Catherine Young is a Filipino-Chinese artist, designer, and writer whose work explores alternative futures through interactive storytelling and sensory experiences. She uses her interdisciplinary practice to create high impact projects and exhibitions that evoke conversation about our collective futures from a wide range of audiences. She believes that visualizing our collective futures allows us to make decisions about our present behaviors. In 2013, she was an Asia-Pacific Fellow at the National Art Studio of Korea, and later a participant at the 2013 Art Science Residency Programme in partnership with ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands, Tembusu College National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Singapore-ETH Zurich Future Cities Laboratory, where she began The Apocalypse Project, a speculative design research inquiry into our environmental futures as climate change affects us by imagining our future lifestyles using interactive objects and experiences.
