Bob Pritchard’s research involves interactive performance, gesture tracking, and gesture-controlled speech synthesis, and has been supported by Canada’s SSHRC and CC/NSERC programs. He is often commissioned and his works have been presented internationally by notable performers such as Jane Coop, Margaret Lancaster, Julia Nolan, Joseph Petric, Barbara Pritchard, Derek Jones, and Chenoa Anderson, as well as by Standing Wave, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, PEP, and the Hard Rubber Orchestra. He has collaborated with visual artists Krista Dragomer, Anne Tremain, Richard Prince, Merijean Morrisey, and Rob Creighton, and he creates video, stills, software and music for his own interactive works: in 2007 his interactive piece Strength received a Unique Award of Merit from the Canadian Society of Cinematographers. He is a professor of music technology in the University of British Columbia School of Music, and is a member of several UBC research units.
